MissJess76 writes "I have contacted Hasbro Company to obtain the RISK Tournament guidlines, which I have since received. I am holding a RISK Tournament on Saturday, July 25, 2009. Store opens at 11:30am and tournament registration will start at that time and go until 12:30pm. Game play will begin right at 1:00pm and no late arrivals will be accepted, even if you pre-paid. I have reserved player space at:
War Zone-Matrix 4704 Rocky River Dr Cleveland, OH 44135 (216) 433-1316 Hours: 11:30am - 11:00pm Get directions by Mapquesting this addess.
Each player will pay $20 registration fee the day of the event, or you can pre-pay (only $15) online using PayPal which guarrantees your spot and saves you $5.00! Anyone choosing to pre-pay online using PayPal must submit their payment to me BEFORE July 10, 2009. You can also register your spot and choose to pay the day of the event, but regardless of when you plan to pay I NEED EVERYONE WHO WANTS TO PLAY to email me their info so I can plan on those players being there. Again, only 36 spots available and only those who pre-pay online are PROMISED a spot. Registration fees are non-refundable so if you pay and don't show you forfeit your money and spot. If you are confused or have questions please email me. Either way, I need to hear from anyone who wants to play: Jess at jljacobs1976@live.com. PayPal payments can also be sent to that email address if you choose to pre-pay for your registration.
All players will also receive a $5.00 store credit towards any purchase in the store. There I already have 6 players registered with me, and we can have up to 30 more total players. Space is limited to get your registration in to me ASAP. Don't register if you are not sure you can make it! Last player standing gets the whole pot as a prize ($10 min per player, so easily the pot could be $60 and higher), so that's some nice cool cash in pocket just for playing this awesome strategy game. We will try to offer other prizes as well but cannot make any promises. We will also have a second chance losers drawing where all losers of the tournament will get their name put into a drawing for an additional prize (to be determined).
Experienced players (ages 11 & up) only for this event and we will follow the tournament play rules. We will not have time to teach player how to play the game. Once you send me an email with your registration (with or without payment) I will reply back to you with the official rules we will be following for game play that day. Food and beverage (cans preferred) are permitted (bring your won) but please be respectful of the store and don't spill or make messes.
There will be two game rounds played; preliminary and final round. The first (preliminary) round will be only 2 hours long, so if world domination was not achieved at a table then the player with the most territories will go on to the final round. There can only be 6 players going to the final round- with a minimum of three players. The preliminary table(s) will be setup accordingly to make sure we have a minimum of 3 and maximum of 6 players advancing to the final round. We will have an official ref who will be there to handle players disputes. The ref's word is the final word in determining matters.
The final round will be played without a time limit. Last person standing (achieving world domination) wins the tournament and the pot of cash. Minimum prize will be the pot (cash put in from registration fee's) plus any other prizes that are donated prior to the event. This tournament will be a quarterly event, so a flyer with the next tournament dates will be available at this tournament.
Again, to register your spot or to obtain official rules for this tournament, please send an email to: Jess at jljacobs1976@live.com. You can choose to pre-pay your registration fees via PayPal if you wish. This absolutely guarrantees your spot if you prepay AND you only have to pay $15.00 (save $5!) because you paid in advance. All others paying day of event will pay full price and spots are not promised. Only first 36 to fully pay are promised their seats. PayPal payments can be sent to: Jess at jljacobs1976@live.com using PayPal which is fast, easy & free. You will receive a reciept which you will print out and bring with you to the tournament as proof you already pre-paid. www.paypal.com or email me to get address to send cash or check payment to.
***As of this posting we are down to 30 spots left so get your registrations in ASAP!!! The game store will also be advertising this event and already has players interested so time is of the essence! "

| Worldwide D&D Gameday - Monster Manual 2. |
|
|
 |
chicago_faucet writes "Hey All,
Wizards is doing ANOTHER Worldwide D&D Gameday, on May 23rd, and this time it is to herald the release of the Monster Manual 2. So, we're going to do it the same way we did the last one. For anyone interested, here is the official blurb from Wizards:
"Bring your friends and join in the fun as we celebrate the release of the Monster Manual 2, packed with new options for your Dungeons & Dragons 4th Edition game.
Have your players come and face down enemies (both brand new and some old returning favorites) jumping right off the pages of the next big monster expansion for the game!
Just for participating, players will take home the pregenerated character sheet and a miniature of the character they played. DM’s can take home the adventure itself, a poster map of the encounter areas, and a pack of monster miniatures used in the adventure.
To satisfy your curiosity, here’s a quick description of the adventure!
Journey Through the Silver Caves – A kobold wyrmpriest has stolen an ancient book of prophecy from the people of Albura, a fortress on the borderlands. The kobold has a dark plan for the book – and only you can stop him in time! An adventure for 5 pregenerated 5th-level characters."
So, here are the details. This is happening on May 23rd, and I'll start the first set of tables at noon.
If you want to DM this adventure, and get the same type of free swag as you did last time, you have to register before May 4th. Just to avoid any of the mishaps that happened last time, you have to register it as a "Special Event Game Day", and then it will ask you for two addresses. One of the addresses is going to be the location of the store, which is obviously the Warzone. The other address is the mailing address, which should be your home address. The mailing address is where they are going to send the kit.
Once a DM is registered, they should let me know, so that I can add them to the list, and open up a new table. I'll add the tables only as DMs become available. The adventure is described as being a three-hour event, so I'll probably space the tables about four hours apart.
If you just plan on playing this, then you have to wait for a table with open spots to open up.
Yes. This is the week after Ancon. We should all be in the soft manger of burnout and gaming hangover by then. "

chicago_faucet writes "Hey All,
Bring your friends and join in the fun as we celebrate the release of the Player’s Handbook 2, packed with new options for your Dungeons & Dragons 4th Edition game.
Come try out the new races (such as the gnome) and the new classes (like the invoker and barbarian) while you battle wicked fiends and thwart dark plots. No matter if you’re new to the game or a 4th Edition veteran; we’ll have everything you need to embark on an all-new adventure! To satisfy your curiosity, here’s a quick description of the adventure: One Dark Night in Weeping Briar – A stormy night, an empty town, and a small girl that holds the key to the strange disappearances. An adventure for 5 pregenerated 11th-level characters.
Event structure - Play a 2-3 hour adventure entitled “One Dark Night in Weeping Briar”, created especially for the event. The 11th-level adventure comes with pregenerated characters, drawing on options from Player’s Handbook 2 and other upcoming products.
March 21st at the Warzone. "

| AnCon 2009! May 15th Through May 17th. |

 |
Chicago_Faucet writes "Hey All,
It’s probably time to officially announce AnCon 2009, “Another Gaming Convention”. It will be May 15th through May 17th this year, at the Holiday Inn, in Hudson, Ohio. Hudson is located between Cleveland and Akron, but very close to Twinsburg, and thus very close to both 480 and the Turnpike.
We are already gearing up the schedule, and expect quite a large offering of Living Realms events, as well as a large attendance of Living Realms players. Plus, as a bonus, I plan on going. So anyone who attends gets to meet their Point of Contact. Yours truly. That alone is worth the price of admission.

So, set your calendars aside for this, and keep checking that website for updates on what Living Realms events to expect."

| Living Realms Kickoff At The Warzone. Weekend In The Realms. |
|
|
 |
chicago_faucet writes "Words from the Main Man at Wizards, Chris Tulach:
"But we’re taking things to another level this fall. On October 24–26, we’re holding a worldwide event called Weekend in the Realms. Think of it as a sort of launch party for Living Forgotten Realms and a way to help build your LFR community.
So what’s so special about this event? First off, there’s an exclusive mega-adventure playable only that weekend written for LFR play. It’s called “Beneath Haunted Halls,” it’s for characters levels 1–4, and it’s written by Wizards’ own Matt Sernett. Set in and around the famous Haunted Halls of Eveningstar, the adventure is broken into three parts; each part takes approximately 3 hours to play. You can play one, two, or all three parts if you’d like, and earn rewards for your LFR character for each part. Either bring your existing character or create a new one onsite; you’ll be able to play all day with just this one adventure.
There’s more than just the adventure at Weekend in the Realms. We’ll provide DMs with a cool poster map with two of the encounter areas, we’ll have a trivia sheet to test your Forgotten Realms knowledge, and we’ll have a poll sheet to let the RPGA know what you want to see in Living Forgotten Realms in 2009. All of this stuff is bundled in a kit, which will be available by signing up through the Wizards website at www.wizards.com/rpga. The kit is available in both a print form and an electronic file only form; if you sign up to host an event through the website, you’ll most likely receive the printed kit. The big requirement is that you need to host a public event. We want organizers to get their communities together to play at a store, community center, library, or convention."
The Warzone will be hosting this event at the Warzone in the back two game rooms, all day Saturday and Sunday, October 25th and 26th. Sign-up is occurring at the thread located here:
